Junior Learn to Sail Programs

Our junior sailing programs cater to children aged 9 to 18 and are thoughtfully divided based on skill level and experience into three groups: Guppies, Sharks, and Two-Person Sailing. We offer classes on both weekdays and weekends to accommodate various schedules.

Our weekday programs run from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with light snacks provided. Students must bring their own lunch. The programs include 30 hours of supervised instruction.

Our weekend program runs from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on five Saturday mornings with light snacks provided. The program includes 15 hours of supervised instruction.

We also offer our "Junior Week" of sailing and fun in early June. Juniors 9 to 18 years of all skill levels enjoy a week of camaraderie and learning to advance their sailing skills, while having time to socialize and mentor others. This program is primarily targeted toward AYC members’ children and grandchildren with a few openings for guest juniors with sailing experience. Juniors 12 years and older have the opportunity to spend the night at Atlanta Yacht Club in chaperoned cabins for evening games and fellowship. The program continues to be successful because of the high level of volunteer engagement.
